My High School Years

Welp, this is my final year of High School. Only a few weeks left, got issued a cap and gown, finishing up my senior memoir, and bought a couple photo albums to fit my graduation pics in. I’m ready for that one moment to happen when I open the doors into the real world. My legacy I plan to leave behind is a big feeling of motivation, inspiration, and happiness.

I have been by my friend’s sides when they were going through tough challenges in their lives. Even to people I don’t know around Delsea I try my best to make their day. Delsea has really opened my eyes and has taught me many lessons on hard work, dedication, and finding yourself. I don’t have any favorite classes. I didn’t really mind many of my classes for the passed 4 years now. But if I had a favorite, it would be Music Tech because my dream is to become a Music Producer/Artist.

Also, it would be the school trips I went on that I remember the most. Including the sports I tried out. My main sport, to me, had to be Raiders for JROTC. Some say it doesn’t count as a sport, but from what I’ve learned at Mr. Daigle’s class is that anything competitive counts as a sport.

His class taught me many strategies and skills such as Photoshop, creating web pages, video games, codes, etc. JROTC taught me how to motivate others into becoming better citizens in the community. In my opinion, Junior year had to be the hardest year yet. There was a lot of work to be done and my schedule would be filled to the brim.

The other classes, of course, taught me many things too. But they weren’t very enjoyable as much as the ones I listed. History has to be one of my favorite subjects next to Music and Computers though. History is interesting to me because I find it interesting how far humanity has come from then until now. In conclusion, I plan to go to college after I graduate and get myself a degree in music. I will succeed and bring my Delsea pride along with me all the way.

Photoshop:

During the third marking period I learned how to edit pics even further. First, I downloaded a pic online of a mountain and made it B&W using various techniques from a tutorial website. Finally, I learned how to invert (pictured above) a pic of the woods by using the same type of technique. All you basically do is use effects, change the settings of the effects however the way you like, and results will show neatly as long as you know what kind of effects to use and how to use them. It doesn’t take long to learn how to add effects to a pic. Takes about a day or two depending on how you do on Photoshop.

Blogs:

I learned how to make blogs look more professional. We went on other’s blogs and looked at how unique and creative their styles are. It taught me how to make my blogs look more neat than having it all over the place.

Hour of Code:

Hour of Code has taught me how to make characters move by using code in block form. The more you advance forward the more hard it gets. It also taught me how to draw just by using code. The most difficult ones for me were moving the characters in patterns and certain codes. The drawing ones were the second most difficult. In the end, it is possible to complete.

Khan Academy:

Khan Academy is really similar to code.org. But instead of using blocks you use actual text. There are helpful videos to guide you through the courses as you go. This program allows you to do many things. Such as draw, build websites, etc. Although, It is more complex to use.

2nd Marking Period

During the entire second marking period, I’ve gotten decently far in code.org. So far I have reached lesson 19.  I have been practicing Sudoku and Typing all throughout. My skills have improved over time and I hope to get even better next marking period. Using mostly type racer, my typing skills improved drastically by just practicing for a short period of time. Sudoku is still difficult to me in a way. I can’t go above easy level yet until I get better.

Winter Break

My winter break was fun. I hung out with many friends and family all week. I worked my first day at my first job last Saturday. The start of my winter break. I got a couple decent gifts for Christmas. Clothes, items, hats, etc. It was and still is really cold outside and I don’t like it at all. Hopefully, it will get warm sooner or later. I’m excited for 2018. New fresh start to a whole new year and all that. I went over to a friend’s party and had tons of fun for New Years Eve.

Photoshop

Top Skills:

Speed

Over time your speed will increase more and more without having to look at the keyboard.  A touch typist can easily reach typing speeds above 75-80 words per minute, while a hunt and peck typist would be hard pressed to reach 30 words per minute.

Accuracy

One of the most important things to learn no matter how hard you type is to type accurately. No one is going to be able to ride to your rescue if your typing skills are so atrocious that no one can understand what you’re saying.

Time

If you increase your typing speed from about 30 words per minute to 60, you have effectively halved the time it would take you to do the same amount of work. An average two finger typist, typing at for example of 15 words per minute, will type a 250 word section in about 17 minutes. A touch typist, on the other hand, typing at an average 60 words per minute, can type the same section in around 4 minutes.
